BuildATech® is designed to train technicians who are new to HVAC, and to help experienced technicians grow in their careers through more advanced levels of training. The program is available in several learning methods, to fit most learning styles and schedules.
BuildATech Level 1
Are you new to HVAC? This training program is designed to provide participants with fundamental knowledge of the HVAC industry, and to lay a strong foundation for their careers. This program also includes HVAC safety, tools, and skills to aid in customer communication. BuildATech® - Level 1 is for technicians with little to no experience and offers the knowledge and skills to become job-ready maintenance technicians.

Instructor-Led
BuildATech® - Fundamentals training in a traditional classroom setting plus hands-on lab practice. The class runs approximately eight hours per day, five days per week, for three weeks. This level of BuildATech® includes EPA Section 608 testing.

BuildATech Level 2
Are you an HVAC tech who already performs HVAC service in the field? This class is ideally designed for technicians who are currently active in running residential HVAC service calls. The curriculum focuses on strengthening diagnostic skills, reducing call backs, and setting leads when applicable.

BuildATech® - intermediate training in a traditional classroom setting plus hands-on lab practice. The class runs approximately eight hours per day, five days per week, for three weeks. This is not a NATE preparation course, but technicians will have the option to take the NATE Certification core exam and one relevant specialty exam of the participant’s choice.

BuildATech Level 3
Are you an experienced HVAC service tech, and ready to level up your diagnostic skills? This advanced two-week technician training program is geared toward seasoned technicians who are ready to tackle root cause analysis. Upon completion, participants will have the knowledge and skills to not only diagnose and fix service issues, but also to determine the root cause of the problem, which greatly reduces callbacks. The curriculum includes advanced communications skills for diplomatically handling difficult customer situations, and covers load calculations, duct sizing, and making new equipment recommendations.

BuildATech® Self-Paced
Self-paced, online technician training program. Are you a new technician, or looking to firm up your technical knowledge? With BuildATech® Self-Paced, new techs can learn on the job, while also progressing through a structured and self-paced curriculum.
This online training program covers HVAC fundamentals, electrical, cooling, heating, leak detection, air distribution, technician communications, NATE preparation, and more. It's completed 100% online, and includes 3-D troubleshooting simulations, 33 learning modules, including video labs, and proctored exams to measure participants’ learning.

- No matter the season, the self-paced nature of BuildATech® Self-Paced means you don’t have to choose between training and productivity in the field.
- Knowledge checks to ensure learning. Each segment concludes with a proctored exam, requiring a successful passing score in order to continue. The first section ends with the EPA exam (given by the student’s manager), and the program concludes with the NATE exam, proctored by your Lennox Field Technical Consultant.
- Online doesn't mean alone. The Lennox Learning Solutions team is here to answer questions and help students stay motivated.
- Interactive learning. The course features a three-dimensional HVAC troubleshooting simulation, allowing students to walk through a service call while working from their own (or the office’s) computer.
